Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 18, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies TaxSpring uses, why we use them, how you can control them, and how you can withdraw your consent. It applies to the TaxSpring Service (the “Service”). Together with our Privacy Policy, it describes how your information is handled.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help a site remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used. We may also use similar technologies, such as local storage and tracking pixels, which are treated the same way under this Policy.

Necessary Cookies (Strictly Required)

These cookies are strictly required for the Service to function. They are always active and do not require your consent. Disabling them may prevent the Service from working correctly.

  • Session cookie (Supabase) — keeps your browsing session active and remembers that you are signed in to your account.
  • Authentication cookie (Supabase) — verifies your identity on each request so only you can access your bookkeeping data.
  • Security cookies — help prevent fraud and abuse, including cross-site request forgery (CSRF) protection.

Non-Necessary Cookies (Analytics)

We use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the Service — for example, which pages are visited, which features are used, how long users stay, and device or browser information — so we can improve it. These cookies are set by PostHog and are only set after you give your consent.

  • PostHog analytics cookies — collect aggregated usage statistics. These cookies are non-essential and are disabled until you consent.

How We Obtain Your Consent

When you first visit the Service, we show a cookie banner that asks for your consent before any non-necessary cookies are set. You may accept or decline. Your choice is stored on your device, and non-necessary cookies are only set if you accept.

Withdrawing Your Consent

You may withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your cookies or by using the cookie preference controls available in the Service or your browser. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. After you withdraw, non-necessary cookies will no longer be set unless you consent again.

How to Disable Cookies

You can block or delete cookies through your browser’s privacy and security settings. Most browsers let you review and delete cookies on a site-by-site basis, and you can set your browser to reject cookies by default. For example, you can find these controls in the settings of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. PostHog also provides its own opt-out mechanism, which you can enable from their documentation. Please note that blocking or deleting necessary cookies may prevent you from signing in or using parts of the Service.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Revised versions will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
